Can Malwarebytes And Avast Run Together

Posted by admin

Me neither, but there is always a 'could' if both companies do not specifically test and confirm they will not.If Malwarebytes can have difficulty getting 3.x stable for everyone I am sure 2 unconnected S/W companies can 'trip over' each other.Remember we are talking about software running on 'MS Windows' which can trip over 'itself' on a bad day!!! )Considering the amount of software I installed/de-installed as part of my work when I tested 'builds' for 'roll-outs' etc, and how fine the difference was between working or not working, I am quite impressed at how stable windows can be at best.Unfortunately, when windows goes 'flakey' it can be a real pain tracking down the exact conflict that breaks the build.I hugely empathise with the support people trying to diagnose the 'problem' with failing installs etc.Been there and done that many many years ago Edited March 20, 2017 by PhoneNumberZeroTypo:). Another positive experience. When this question was asked, I too would have said I have been running Avast free and MBAM Premium for years without any ill effects. They get along together just fine. But as of this week, I think it was an Avast update, but now there IS an issue with both running on a system at the same time.Avast's Behavior Shield keeps turning itself off -for no reason at all.Through some testing on different computers, I was able to determine that the conflict is between MBAM and Avast, but again, it was since the last Avast program update that this started. So if you are having any issues between the 2, head over to the Avast forums and report it there.

Yes, in fact, that's the way it SHOULD be done. You should have a reputable virus scanner with up to date definitions and a good Malware scanner like Malwarebytes, both running real time protection. You should also occasionally do a full system scan as sometimes the RT protection misses something.

In addition, it's a good idea to enable the Rootkit scanning option in Malwarebytes or use their free Rootkit scan tool from their website. Rootkits, Malware and Viruses are generally all mutually exclusive, being entirely different types of infections.Virus scanners generally don't detect viruses and Malware scanners usually won't find traditional 'viruses'.

Rootkits, adware and other undesirable infections may or may not be detected depending on what scanning utility you use. Always keep definitions up to date and when in doubt, use a 'second opinion' scanner like Hitman Pro, which you can download for free. It nearly always picks up things missed by the other scanners.I highly recommend the use of Avira free antivirus and Malwarebytes paid version, which is only about fifteen bucks for a lifetime license, used together.

While I am unable to confirm that Windows Defender (WD) is better than Avast (Av), what I can confirm is that they do not play well together and MS-WIN 8.1 is of little or no value in helping the user to work around this issue. Hopefully, WIN.10 will be better. Until then, I'll go without WD and run Av+MWB and hope for the best.
